artist statement

Placeholder text. My work sits between music and painting, and most days I cannot tell where one ends and the other begins. I am interested in the moment a sound becomes a mark on paper, and in what happens when an audience watches that happen live.

Placeholder text. I play early and contemporary music on the sackbut and trombone, improvise freely, and paint in response to what I hear. The paintings that come out of performances are records of listening as much as finished objects.

Placeholder text. Above everything I want the work to bring people closer together. That is the point of it.
